Nailing down the species of a willow can be tough. They are notoriously promiscuous plants. There are a lot of natural as well as horticultural hybrids. I once had a class on identifying plants where the instructor had this advice when it came to ID'ing a species of willow: "If you want to identify a species of willow take 2 aspirin, lie down for a couple of hours, and hope that the desire goes away."
