Default Is this a Native? If so, What is It?

A friend sent me a photo text today asking me if this plant he found was native and what it is. I've actually seen it recently while walking and have wondered myself.

I have a rough idea, but need the experts on this forum to confirm or refute my guess. Thanks.

LOL...I guess, I'd just know I was wrong.

I really have no idea, but thought it could be some kind of orchid.

Looks like Epipactis helleborine (broadleaf helleborine):

Thanks, NEWisc.

I even did a search for hellebore...not sure where that name came from...the depths of my brain, I guess...but I had it wrong. At least I was right about the orchid--that surprised me.

Too bad it is not a native...my friend seems to like it, so I'd bet he'll keep it.

Thanks again.

This year only about 10 of those popped up on me. Usually I've got twice that many.... maybe the hot dry summer did a number on some of them this year>>>>? I waste em when I find em before they get a chance to bloom so I'm not quite sure how it is they keep popping up around here year after year. I must be missing some and they're seeding themselves around. They are pretty.... this is 1 species I sure wish was native. It's problably the only "weed" I wish I didn't have to waste.

I almost feel that way about Potentilla recta L. (Sulphur Cinquefoil) and flower-of-an-hour (Hibiscus trionum).
