Well I grabbed one of my daughters and drove over to the boat landing to get that stump I was eyeing. It's going to take a lot more than the two of us to lift that thing. I took off in such a hurry that I didn't remember my camera so I didn't even get a picture of it. But, I did spot another piece of wood. We were able to pick that one up and I deposited it in one of the beds in the backyard. You can view it below:

Oh well at least we got it up there and there it stayed....

The reason it's still up there is because it would be too much trouble for him to get his sorry butt up there and do it himself.

Isn't it wonderful when things work themselves out!?!?! The branch stays.

Very neat find MaggyNoLia, I hope you can retrieve the stump you had your heart set on but if not at least you have an alternate piece to work with.

Nice setting for your branch havollata. Wonderful corner.
I really like the carved crows.
Did you carve them? If not where did you get them?
I know someone who would love to have a carving of crows.

Even though I have done a few carvings of my own these were not mine.
I bought them at an auction while in travel. We sometimes take detours and end up filling our trunk. A few rocks and minerals came from another auction on the road. Nice finds to run into. I wished I had boughten more carvings and minerals but the travel plans end up pulling us away...

Hey, Maggy. Did you find a way to get the big stump home yet?

If it's water logged drag it behind some brush an go back in a few weeks after it has dried.
I've done that many times with the must haves!

My daughter and I together could barely lift one end off the ground. I tried pushing it because fire ants have built a bed under it and I couldn't get it to budge more than an inch or so. It's much bigger than the one I posted. I'll either have to figure out how I could use some leverage to move it or just provide a lot more muscle than I or my daughters have.

dragonfly01 Doggone!

Hanh mitakuyapi / hello my relatives. Doggone! The Heart River flooded my place last spring & didn't bring me any logs - nice or not. Deepest was about 4 feet deep running at least 40 mph.. (Thank gods I bermed a few years earlier - had less than 1" of water in the basement!) The River brought lots of clay.. lots of mess.. (took all summer to clean it up & I'm not finished - I gave up. Dug out a hole in the driveway over 2 ft deep X 55 feet wide X over 120 feet long which took over 30,000 lbs of sand (which I hauled with a half-ton pickup & dumped by hand to backfill..) But no logs.
Wouldn't you think that with that much shape-up work it brought me, it coulda brought even a couple of nice pieces of driftwood?
As for the lawn crew watching you - if there's a next time, you could ask them to load for you..
Nice photos - you have a flair for design. Congratulations!
