Thanks Dap....
I do so many changes as I create a post so I don't appear We Todd Did. It's ridiculous for me to try and keep up with myself...
Know what I mean.

I can't remember from when I registered, but does the forum software use "captcha" to screen out bots? It's hardly foolproof, but it should stem the flood somewhat.

Good thoughts amelanchier.

We're updated to ReCaptcha. Newer version of captcha.

We’ve got a Q&A from within registration options activated. All registrants need to answer why they want to join WG. Muslim Brotherhood/Avilƒƒ‚©s/Cialis Discount/Want to share something exciting from my blog/Marketing/الجهاد/etc. type replies get the boot.

We have a spam management subscription.

What is your question please Sage. I ask this of you sincerely.

As of a week ago, Popowich incorporated a stop the bot registrations application. It is slowing down some bots however it is not slowing down human assisted scraper bots.

Every little bit does help.

The world economy is collapsing. Millions are hungry and rioting. The cost of grains places purchasing them out of reach for many. It is no longer only the lower socioeconomic groups in the US suffering as a result of rising food costs. Our own unemployment rate is frighteningly high forcing many to scramble for a means by which to pay bills. Those with computers, in our country and abroad, are trying to make ends meet. There is money, albeit very little, to be made spamming and scraping websites. All websites are experiencing a surge in the number of human assisted bots attempting to penetrate. Little websites with fewer shoulders to manage the influx are suffering. Please know we are trying our very best.

I hope we as a group can survive all of this input...
Thank you, thank you, to all who are trying to keep those little buggers away!

I don't have a clue what this is supposed to mean but it struck me as a very strange response.

I remember having to answer that question and say who referred me--at the time I could only remember seeing a link from Gardenweb not any specific name. I remember thinking I *might not* get in.

Sage, I know this was not directed at me, and I hope no one minds my trying to answer. I think WGAdmin was stating that anyone (or bot) trying to join WG has to answer *why* they want to join. I think he was listing some examples of unacceptable responses to that query such as ads for Viagra and other such spam.
