Default Day-old chickadee chicks

They just hatched yesterday so I took these as quickly as possible--sorry they're off-center. I didn't dare put in a pencil for sense of scale, but these babies are tiny!

Aww.

Great to hear that the chickadees are gonna raise a brood that you can observe--and photograph. Thanks for sharing.

They grew into their eyeballs.
My nest box was empty the last time I checked so I'm really enjoying your little ones.

They look so cute!

...I also like the moss they add to their nests. I was hoping to get some chickadees to nest in a box this year, but I think I put it up a little too late.

I have a nest going but, from what I can see, there are three chicks - tiny. In fact, the only thing that made me sure I was looking at chicks was their beaks, which, at this age, is the largest thing on their bodies.

Funny, I put a brand new chickadee house up with a small amount of wood chips on the bottom as I read was encouraging to them, and they chose a different box with a larger hole. The newly purchase house now has house wren nesting in it, but the boxes are a good 300 feet apart and they don't bother the chickadee's at all. Wish I had a camera to take a shot for you, but that's a project I haven't gotten around to yet; ie, buying the new camera.
