Default weird nesting places

This spring, a Carolina wren chose to nest in a critter keeper stored in a bin on my deck. It was a poor choice, given the racoons who visit my deck.

Do you have photos of birds with nests in odd places? Post them here. Perhaps I'll find a cool birdhouse to award the winner of the oddest nesting place....

While living in Florida, doves chose to nest in a zig-zaggy succulent in a hanging basket outside my door. It was fun watching the nest and the babies getting ready to fledge.

There was a birds nest inside this vintage canister but it's not visible in the photo.

Wow, Havalotta! You have many enterprising animals around your house. Great photos.

Oh Gads!
I hope you don't think I live slovenly like that...
Those critters were found in various homes we looked at to possibly buy as fixer uppers...

Just kidding!

I love the idea of lots of critters living around my house, including the mice in my attic and the squirrels in my gutter troughs (the litter monsters!), and wrens on my deck. It is not a mark of being slovenly, it is a mark of being hospitable.

In any case, I hadn't really thought they were all at your own house, although I guess that is what my answer said. Sorry if it came out wrong.

I wasn't holding it against you any...I don't mind sharing my deck or shed with the critters but when they come inside....
