What a cutie looking up at you with such big eyes!

Luckily I had went out with the kitchen compost and noticed the swallows nest was not hanging in the tree anymore. The wind blew so hard the eye screw pulled loose and it crashed to the ground. POOR BABIES.....I peeked through the tiny hole and saw the little ones alive and still breathing. About all I could make out (No trap doors to open for cleaning and viewing) I re screwed the eye hook into another fresh area and set it upright for the swallows to hopefully enter while I waited for sonnie pie to come home to help me rehang it.

They would not or could not fly in and enter it on the ground. I waited patiently for him to arrive. Eventually he came home and climbed up into the tree for me to pass it up to him to rehang. I watched the birds for a long time landing nearby but not entering it. I had hung it about a foot higher than it was... Guess it took some time for them to get used to swooping and landing into a different area of the tree. Eventually they did learn the new route and started going into it. I sure hope they weren't severely hurt in their fall. I couldn't see all that well looking into the tiny hole but I did my best to help them out none the same...

I see the parents are still going in and out of it today so something must have survived.
I'd sniff the entrance for death if I could but it's up in a dead plum tree and I'm afraid If I try to go out on a limb I might be the one crashing to the ground next!

Ah ha!!! Now I know where the new avatar came from!!! Say.... I saw this and thought of you, Falcon Ridge 14x18 Original Oil by Alice Hurlbert - eBay (item 160191606990 end time Aug-03-10 17:57:53 PDT). Cool isn't it? I got to looking around at eBay when I ended up there accidentally looking for something else. I didn't know eBay had anything nice.... pricey but nice. Here's one I found that BooBoo might get a kick out of, Fine ART Wildflower Bear Wildlife Painting Mountain - eBay (item 200432484641 end time Jul-24-10 19:02:13 PDT). I found them under a search of conservation, Artists for Conservation - Buy Nature Art - Wildlife Art.

Beautiful "bear art" Equilibrium. It has a bear in the painting, so of course I like it!
