How about "warbler rumps"? Maybe a field guide for all bird backends.

Here's a nice cool picture for you all. A Killdeer among the ice at the lake.

See? The Red-bellied Woodpecker really has a red belly.

Hey, fishlkmich, how have you been? Did the woodpecker stick around??? What a great experience that must have been!

I've tried for years to get a photo of Mr. Red-winged at just the right time. Finally.

Not sure if there was courtship feeding or what at this angle. This is our south yard Tree Swallows. A pair just arrived to the north box yesterday.

VERY nice photo!
May I use it for my desktop?
I'd agree on the courting. The wing-drop is a sure sign!

Have a few hummers around this year, Anna's, they stay the year round, and the rufous. This of course is the male rufous.

Thank you very much. Yes, you are welcome to it.

I just was not sure about the Tree Swallows, sometimes I see two that look they are yelling at each other.

The killdeers are back along the shore lines. The male pileated calls nearly everyday, the female may be nesting as she is usually here.
