That's the first thing that I thought. I have seen the juveniles in gray but never so white like that. I would have thought it was an egret

Confusing isn't it? Somewhere I have some shots of one that is turning grey but still mottled with the white. When I first was seeing these I thought they were egrets, but it was only after I started looking at the pictures that I was taking that I noticed the beak was the wrong color and then I noticed the legs were the wrong color too.

I think immature plumage on birds is very inconsiderate to those of us trying to identify them.

LoL...that is exactly what my dog does when she ignores us. She looks away...darn deaf dog.

We have a little girl who does this. She smiles when she stretches then closes her eyes before ignoring us. She isn't deaf.
