Wow! These birds compete with humans for length of the reproductive age. The CommonLoon is indisputable my favorite bird. When I hear one while renting on some New Hampshire or Maine lake, I feel my soul stir. No other bird, indeed no other creature, has quite the intensity of effect upon me as this birds cry. I also love they way they transport their young. They're just awesome birds, and now with this knowledge of their reproductive longevity, still more fascinating!!!
