Default Lichen biodiversity lode in Fakahatchee, Florida

Remarkable diversity of lichen species found in Florida state park

Lücking's team of 19 taxonomists and graduate students, accompanied by several park personnel including park biologist Mike Owen, documented 432 different lichens within one square kilometer of Fakahatchee, including 18 never before identified by scientists and nearly 100 previously not known from North America.

I'm in southwest FL til tomorrow am and last year I started this thread about the abundant lichens in the south FL swamps and preserves. Lichen thrive in this environment.

Many others posted their lichen shots too!
