If you haven't had the opportunity to attend a Doug Tallamy presentation this video recording of "Doug Tallamy's Plant Natives 2015 presentation" is excellent.
I have been able to attend a couple of his presentations so I was familiar with most of it, but this video contains some new information about the suitability of native plants that produce berries for birds versus non-native plants that produce berries that birds eat. I found it to be very interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UonRPIea48Y

I just heard him talk at NY Botanic Garden this Fall. I think he's very engaging and is doing an enormous amount of good spreading the word about planting for wildlife. The piece of the puzzle that's missing for me is garden maintenance. You can plant to attract insects, but if you blow, rake and shred leaves in the fall, you have just lured many insects to their deaths. I think it's important to include this information.

Speaking of spreading the word, he has a new book coming out this February. "Nature's Best Hope: A New Approach to Conservation that Starts in Your Yard" seems to be aimed at one of his other main themes - wildlife corridors.
https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Best-...s=books&sr=1-1 Good point on the maintenance, we humans definitely need to start looking for cures to this tidiness disease that we suffer from. Actually it seems that most of nature suffers from our tidiness disease.
