Default Lucky Shots

Sometimes I get just lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and this past September that was just the case when I stumbled across these Dolphins swimming through a channel between two of the coastal islands in South Carolina.

I've walked this section of beach many times. I've seen Dolphin here before years ago but never had a camera with me. On this day my luck had changed...

I've been a whole lot luckier when it comes to capturing these guys. Of course some of you may not think it too lucky, but I prefer to view it that way....much to SF's consternation.

A little bit harder than the gators were the fiddler crabs. They scatter when they see you and they're such tiny things to boot...

And then you have regualr crabs. I think this is a blue crab? I'm not that familiar with crabs...

Otters are much harder to find these days. In years past they've been known to actually jump into our boat when we were fishing. These pictured below of course were not in our boat. That was one of those days when I didn't have the camera...

Not a wild Dolphin but I think I've caught something that may interest you...

Have I caught on film what I think this lower appendage is?
I had always thought they were retracted.

I'm hardly an expert, but I'd guess it is only retracted until he is happy to see someone. By the smile on his face, I'd say he looks pretty happy!
