Default A scythe that's seen better days

I know it needs sharpening. I'm pretty sure I can do that... I've learned how to sharpen knives and I don't see where sharpening a scythe is going to be that much different and there's probably a YouTube out there on how to sharpen a scythe or a sickel anyway. What I've got is a scythe that fits me well but I can't use it because the upper handle needs repair. The lower handle is solid. I have no idea how to go about repairing this tool.

Anyone have any suggestions or is the repair out of my league and maybe I should send it off to someone who repairs them so I don't trash it?

If there are any Amish farmers in your area, they may be able to help. When I needed a new handle for my scythe a few years ago, I was surprised (and gave a scythe of relief!) when I found one (called a snath or snathe) in our local family-run hardware store.

No way of tightening the hand piece (as in a screw or something from its end) to the main pole ...Pulling it in tight?
