A company calling themselves Orcon (organiccontrol.com) is advertising on Facebook for people to collect praying mantis egg cases for them, which they will purchase for resale to their customers.
I'm thinking this is a bad idea. But, I know people do collect ladybugs for resale, and that hadn't bothered me before. After absorbing all the biodiversity discussion on WG, the business of shipping live insects all over the place doesn't seem to me like such a clever idea. |
