Anyone else go camping out there? I’m just sorta curious. My husband’s camping this weekend…. man oh man did they get bad weather and high winds to boot. I guess they came back to their camp site and found their cook stove was gone. I doubt any one would have stolen it since it was really old….. probably the high winds that took it and knocked it down the ravine but makes no difference since they can’t find it. I’ve been looking at some portable cook stoves…. we’ve used the 1 we had before when our power’s gone out so we’ll definitely need to buy another 1 and I’d like something a little heavier than what we used to have. Anyone know anything about this brand, 2 Door Wood-Charcoal Stoves : StoveTec Stove Store, Commercially Available Rocket Stoves. Anyone able to recommend another cook stove for camping?

Well I have several, the Coleman fuel stove, an stove used for one person, a butane stove . Light and easy to pack, an a propane stove lol. Rocket stove is cool, Wood Burning Rocket Stove-Camping/Hunting Cooking Stove | eBay. Thinking about getting one my self. Now if I would only go camping lol.
This next week I'm teaching my little boys to start a fire with flint. And cook using a small pocket alchol stove. Should be fun . |

I just make a good ole roaring fire with at least three good sized rocks leveled around its edge. Once the coals form I set an old grill-grate upon the rocks to place food or kettles upon. Its great not having to tote along an entire grill or sooty cooking device. When your done cooking, give it a scrub in the sand, dunk it in a creek if it's pretty much grease free and store it in a sack of some sort.
I'm unsure if it is safe to cook upon but, a refrigerator grate will also work in a pinch. If you are cramped for space on the actual grill you can wrap some foods in foil and set them near the coals. Oooo then there are the pudgy pie makers...My favorite! You can make all sorts of things in them, main meals AND some really great tasting pies! I've even used them inside over a gas stove!

Have you used them? I almost dug mine out of the garage tonight after posting about them but already had more than enough to dine upon.
