Prenolepis imparis, Winter Ant, queen and males on nuptial. You can find swarms of these during the afternoon hours on days when it's over 70F out. Typically they're all gathered around trees, from now until the end of April. Queens are seriously out numbered like 200 to 1! I don't know why it's so dramatic in this species but that's the way it is year after year. Normally ant colonies will favor one gender over another to help prevent inbreeding.
