Beautiful shot. Beautiful gator. Somehow the green growth near the water draws my eye--am I ready for spring or what? Great contrast of colors and textures.

January 2011 Photo of the Month Contest - post entries here-p1110697.jpg Turkey Vultures on the roof of a nearby house in our community.

After seeing turkey vultures circling over an "old folks home" in Buffalo, I asked a DEC biologist friend if vultures could smell "death" and she said yes! Maybe I should have called 911 after seeing those vultures sitting on the roof!

Ohhh Sage!
Leave it to you, to make such a comment.

I like it! The tiles, the patterns, and all. Something other than seeing them perched along the road or in a tree hanging their heads low.

Default juvenile coopers hawk

Got a call about an injured hawk. After I called the guy back, I found out that the hawk was nowhere near injured, but dining on pigeon! I spent about a half hour there, watching him/her as s/he watched me and my little dog! The hawk was done eating when I got there and kept dozing over its prey...

I took about 50 pictures, just to make sure I got a couple good ones. It was a great way to spend a snow day!

Thanks, Havalotta! I don't usually post here as I am so critical of my photos...
