Just checked in and there he was - crusted with frost and snow.
If seen these guys out on the range snorting through the frost. Wow! |

So what do you think Dave did to make him snorting mad?

The bison image was my first Nationally Award Winning photo - taken in the Northern Range of Yellowstone National Park out near Round Prairie.

Not a thing - except maybe that it was -20 below zero out and I was taking the photo from inside a Subaru with heated seats
![]() He was about 100 yards away when I saw him plowing through the snow headed towards the road. It was a shot and run situation. ![]()

I know some people go straight to our forums however here is a direct link to our home page where his Bison appears:
http://www.wildlifegardeners.org/forum/wildlife-gardeners.php We had no idea 'Snow Bison' was Dave's first Nationally Award Winning photo when we added it as February's anchor on the home page. Congratulations Dave. They couldn't have selected a better photo. We're thankful you shared it with all of the people who find us.

I try. It helps that I teach out of the south end of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The only drawback is in the winter - to see the wolves in Lamar Valley is a 350 mile one-way trip ... until the middle of May when they open the roads into Yellowstone from the Tetons. Then it's a 150 mile drive, but 90% of it is in the parks
