Shared some strawberries with the cubs, and walked them back into the meadow. They foraged and played. Then the cubs climbed up their favorite bear napping tree. Three hours later Red appeared covered in what we call "boot jacks." Those snaggy little triangle shaped things from plants that stick to your clothes. Bears get them all over their fur when they forage in the blackberry shrubs.

Red walked up to me and I looked up at her cubs in the tree, then she did the same. She trotted across the meadow and called them down and off the reunited bear family went.

Note: I just read back what I wrote, and it doesn't sound believable, but that's how my photo opp happened.
Can I come live at your house?

COOL photo!

I had a bunch of tussock moth eggs on one of my milkweed plants but I think that they were all eaten by someone in the yarden. I looked for them for a few days after finding the eggs but never saw a cat...well, at least not a tussock moth cat, plenty of monarchs no tussock moth!

I wish I had cute bear cubs to play with. All I have are little yellow bears eating my plants... I am jealous.

Maybe we should have our reunion at BooBooBecky's place so we can meet Red Riding Hood and the three cubs . Party at Becky's house! Bring your own bear (or was it beer?).

I'll zoom the photo in more closely, and put it on bug ID. Nasty critters, they are. One of them made my daughter's hand swell up hugely. Only a creature MrIlovetheants would love (I like ants, too, but when they attack my kids, I get protective)

Anyone on this forum who is ever in my area is more than welcome to stop by for a spell and "bear watch" with me!
