I did an image search of a similar parasitic plant, and added the word "pink"... I found a couple of images that look similar--no guarantee it is the right ID, but I'd say I'm on the right track:

Monotropa uniflora
Indian pipe or corpse plant are common names.

I like the thirteen-lined Ground Squirrel thinking he's so well hidden in the grass, but then again...getting that close to a butterfly gets a little tricky!

The third photo is Monotropa uniflora.... a close up of Indian Pipes!!!! "but then again...getting that close to a butterfly gets a little tricky!" I didn't get that close. I was about 2' away.... I crop well. Cropping is about the only thing I know how to do with photos. My favorite is the ground squirrel. That one is the world's most photographed ground squirrel. I must have 50 photos of that one and another 20 of the other one in the yard.
