We have quite a few chickadees in residence year round and I've noticed that they'll allow me within about 6' of their space....well that is only when I don't have a camera. For some reason they don't seem to want a camera within about 100' of them. I've never tried to hand feed them although I would love to have one eat out of my hand. For me there is just something about a chickadee that makes me smile. To have one eat out of my hand....I'd be grinning from ear to ear.

On a side note and not to highjack the thread, I'm curious to know how close cover was for the birds that ate from your hands, and was it sparse, or full? I ask because I want to know if this seems to make a difference in their daring.

Thanks. I'm curious to see if this is true for the other birds that were eating from hand.

I guess I grew up in that kind of weather - 22 below - in Northern Michigan. Now I don't see how blood would keep flowing till Spring!

At times, three deer and later, just the one. Isn't that face the sweetest, the most beautiful you've seen? And of course, here's one of the turkeys who visit daily too.

There's a big storm on its way so I hope all the birds and other creatures are going to bed well fed today.
