No. No scuffle. The water is deep enough in that area that a muskrat could be overwintering in that mound and maybe the coyote had high hopes? I did find an area where there were cat footprints and bird wings in the snow over toward the little church they built to the west of the rookery. What ever bird went after the cat got it. There were no more cat foot prints. Raptors do pluck off cats but mostly it's coyotes and dogs that kill them. It's rare to see "evidence" a bird of prey got one.

Last entry for this month was a visitor to our backyard today.

I love the rookery too. It's one of my favorite places. Why MaggyNoLia!!! That last photo is stiff competition for mimbrava and Kildale's entries!!! You done good in the eleventh hour.

This is the closest I could come up with to a contender for this crowd, red maples (A. rubrum var. drummondii?) taken last year.

You NEED to put that in the desktop wallpaper thread!!! I forgot where that thread went but Sage started a couple of them. I want that photo of yours for my desktop. That's choice.

Maggy what a great photo!
I can see feathers laying at her breast......
Was she moulting or is that something she captured?

It's something captured, most likely a Mourning Dove....at least that is what we are hoping. We have a little Mockingbird that we released this past summer...and I haven't seen it here in the last two days.

Swamp thing and MaggyNoLia, both of those are pretty impressive contenders. I believe that I can count myself out, again. Beautiful shots!

I always count myself out but... I have fun counting myself out when I add the photos. Who won this month anyway?
