I thought I had a real rarity in the tree. Two really red birds perched high above, took a photo and looked at it.
It was a big red robin belly just glowing extra bright in the sun.

We've had a monk parakeet flying around here the last week or so. At first I thought it was someone's pet gone astray, but after getting pics that were good enough to see some identifying characteristics we saw what it was. A couple of years ago I got some shots of a yellowheaded blackbird...they usually aren't seen too much east of Louisiana from what I've read.

My husband brought our Mexican red head parrot out years ago. He said it wouldn't fly away.
What a ding bat........... It flew! A month later we got a call from someone (the whole town knew about him) that they found him grounded with wet wings after a storm but were afraid he might bite them. We went over two miles to retrieve him. He walked right up my arm as he always did. He was still healthy after all that time away but I guess he was tired and wanted to go home with mommy..........

This shows August around my neighborhood, a goldfinch I think eating seed. There were quite a few near the road but walkers made them fly away.

Way better than the blurry one I took this week! Good one..........
I followed the bluebirds around for a while too but not a good shot in the bunch.
