bear Bear Cub in Tree

This is Mo's spring cub, Maid Marion. Fathered by Robyn Hood last June.

Mo is a 4 1/2 year old female bear. This is Mo's first cub.
Mo's mother is Goldlicks and Mo is 1 of 4 quadruplets
Photo taken yesterday 7/12/09 just before dusk.

Is that a chestnut oak or bigtooth aspen he's climbing? With the northern red oak in the background of pic#2 (large tree, rear-right) I would guess it's a chestnut oak.

It's a variety of oak, but I'm not sure which kind. We have several types of oak trees in our area, and I tend to just call them all Oaks. If you think it looks like a chestnut oak, it probably is.

Thanks for identifying the northern red oak tree in the background too!

bear North American Black Bear

These are photos of Flora. Flora is the same bear I entered in the June Photo of the Month Contest.

Except now Flora is 13 months older in the photos below. That makes him a yearling. Photos were taken a couple of days ago.

Actually Flora is doing spectacular on his own. His sister, Flower, misses her mum though.
