We treated friends from out of state to a drive to Lake Martin nearby, and this particular alligator came within 3 feet of us.

ps - they scattered when he spun around and slapped that tail

Here's a bird that posed for us.

We don't have those up north. You keep those. He's beautiful but he really needs to stay down south where he belongs.

There are signs everywhere asking you to not feed the alligators, because once they lose their fear of humans, they have to be relocated or destroyed.

But the reason that one was so close is because the folks in another car were throwing giant marshmallows, and it would get closer with each marshmallow.

May 2009 Photo of the month thread - post contest images here-l_greendragonfly1.jpg
This green dragonfly turned its head up at me just before he flew away. While the focus wasn't exactly where I wanted it I loved the pose, to bad he wasn't inclined to hold it for me.

This dragonfly was holding onto the Asparagus about five feet off the ground on a windy day. I went through about fifty totally out of focus shots before I finally nabbed this one.

This Harvestman or "Daddy long legs' was just chilling out on some long dead basil steam. I love their long elegant legs.

Wow, clueless! I'm trying to picture you with your gardening tools, your camera set for macro and Gabe on your shoulder! Great job!

And today, I came home with 479 pix on my chip! Finally! I got some good shots of the beautiful but elusive male Wood Duck in breeding plumage! Click to enlarge this one!

Excellent dragonfly Clueless! Beautiful photograph Sage! You must be on cloud 9 with all the photos you came home with. And where is the little woman that goes with him...

I'm back from exploring too and have quite a lot to load. Can't wait to show you what I've captured this week on film. Like you clueless I take a ton of out of focus stuff.
It wants to focus on things in front of the main item I want! I like your last insect. You can even see grain in his eyes!

I tried to get some woodies earlier this season but taking them through a window just doesn't do it. They take on a foggier grey blue tint not worth displaying.

While I was gone my voodoo lily grew like an asperagus from 1-1/4" on Thursday to 11" tonight. WOW

She IS bad! My husband wants to kick her out every year. I seal her in her own room for a while. He gets over it.
