Congratulations rockerBOO for first place this month. Your photo of the spider is so cute and excellent quality as all your photos are.

Second place is linrose's photo of the butterfly. Also a nice quality photo.

Thank you both and congratulations

Two excellent shots! Congratulations to you both.

I've never seen a spider like that before. Excellent find and great composition. I bet it could convert a few people to rethink their aversion to spiders; who wouldn't consider this little guy cute!?

Nice Satyr, which have a understated beauty, Linrose.

Got an ID from BugGuide of Hentzia mitrata. A tree-canopy dwelling jumping spider. Was running around on this river birch that is maybe 8' tall. Unlikely spot for it to be, but with many larger trees around.

Some more information on it:

Cool spider rB! There are so many small beautiful creatures. I think the Satyr is beautiful too. I'd never seen one before so I had to look it up. The patterning is subtle and I love the eyespots.

Congrats to the both of you.
Loved the hanging out look of that little guy and the eye-spots of the satyr upon the poison ivy?

Yeah I think it's poison ivy. Critters apparently can tolerate it, even eat it without ill effect. It's everywhere here EXCEPT what we pull near the house and gardens. I won't have it there as I'm extremely susceptible to the nasty blistering long lasting rash it produces.
