Nice photo, turttle! It makes me think I need to plant a black gum

Here's one from me. My partridge pea are doing their job, hosting some cloudless sulphurs:

Now I need to go and check out my partridge peas for cats! My amorpha.tall indigo is stripped by silver spotted skippers again this year, as it has been every fall since I planted it but I haven't found anything eating my partridge peas.

I love black gum, mostly for its brilliant red fall color. I have lots of them in my woods, that I can't take credit for as they were there when I moved in and are native to this ecosystem.

My black gum trees are just starting to make there presence known...in the next few years, they should put on some height and start blooming (I hope...not sure how old they have to be).

I definitely like their fall color, but seeing the pollinators coming to the flowers and the birds coming for the berries are some of my favorite memories of these trees that I became fairly intimately familiar with as I passed them each day going in and out of our front door where I grew up. I'm really looking forward to seeing mine take off and attract wildlife while making the property more attractive.

Was a winner ever declared for this month? Did I miss something?

I went in search of the winners thread yesterday and didn't find any announcement yet.
