I am off to Maui in a few days, and will try for some cool underwater pix - a friend is loaning me a camera to use while snorkeling, which should be a blast.
Very nice.

My pickerelweed just put out some leaves a few weeks ago...it will be a while before I see blooms. Thanks for a preview.

Hey, do you ever notice hummingbirds going to your pickerel rush? I've seen them at it.

Wow! Enjoy your vacation...underwater pics would be cool!

That is what was slinking around in my subconscious, but I'd never have come up with the name (old brain, new information)...and I'd have had no idea it was a female.

(I can, however, identify male or female monarchs. )

Thanks to RockerBOO and Turttle for moth ID help. I think Turttle knows this one well. Thanks for helping me learn. RockerBOO's rebuilt backyard pics are fantastic.

I'm so glad that you are enjoying the site and learning from it as well.

Hopefully, over the years I'll assimilate a lot more knowledge on identifying more butterflies and other insects (one of my weaknesses.) I think plants are my strength...and I still have a lot to learn there as well.

Not a photo but a ninebark update: at least two varieties of the plants have had babies! I have potted up the tiny seedlings to grow for next year's garden tour plant sale.
