Ok so dapjwy, let me know what you want...rootlets, or $9 cash, or $9 donation to WG.
Same for havalotta...as runner-up you will get your 50 mayapple in the spring, if that is what you want, or if you have changed your mind, whatever...let me know how you want your prize. Lucky me, Sage didn't pick a 3rd place...So I get to save $9. LOL Sorry about losing that 3rd place $9 donation WG....but I have to keep my hustle within the rules. LOL ![]() If any other WG member, would like to have some of these rootlets, at no cost for the rootlets (100 or less quantities tyvm)...contact me with the email, and expect to pay your own shipping. ww

Door #1 it shall be, good to know havalotta, you shall determine when you want the things sent to you. I was looking at the hallman's planting instructions and it mentions how early these things sprout(they look a lot like hosta spikes) and I'm thinking they will still be fairly dormant into mid February down here...but by March, they are going to start growing for sure. Maybe you can somehow thaw out an temporary cold planting plot to hold them over from sprouting till your regular ground is workable. I think it might be best to ship before they start growing, so you can benefit from the plants this year.
I have 4" of snow on the ground now, and ice under that, but I can find a 'window' soon to get them asap...if you decide that is what you want. You tell me when & where. By the way, I grew some mayapple in with some hostas, and they did OK, but the hostas kind of choked out the mayapple. But converting a hosta bed to mayapple might be a good spot~~~just a thought. ww

After thinking about what you said about thawing out a spot to hold them, I went into my March photos to take a peek at how the weather is at that time of the year. Ummmmmm There won't be any un-thawing of THIS going on!
![]() March 2011 ![]() March 2013 Don't dig any up anytime soon...It would probably be best to move them AFTER they've done their thing and are pulling back to rest..... when is it, mid summer? Can you hold off on digging them until then or are you in need of their spot for something else?

oh yes I can hold off till then, as I said when and where you want them, they will seance around the first of july, and I might add, that they are much easier to find at that time...so your making this really easy for me. I'll remind you when I'm ready to dig a batch for you...probably mid july, look for an email from me then to get your mailing & quantity information (yes you won 50 rootlets, but if you feel that is too many for your purpose, let me know at that time-- the quantity you desire.)
~~~usually getting a good start by march in zone 6, hazelnut budding out. ![]() ![]() ww
~~~which is Ok with me, I will be shipping the 100 rootlets at a convenient time requested by the recipient. I guess you will have to ask dapjwy who the recipient actually is, as that is his business whether to make it known or not. I'm sure he still deserves his winners certificate, as I don't think he gave that part away. (I bumped this thread instead of the 'winners circle' thread, as not to confuse anything) ww

I offered them to someone *much closer geographically*...had that member declined, I'd have donated the money to WG. Thank you again, ww, for your generosity.
