I had my long underwear (a compromise term!) while tromping around the Outer Banks last week. 40 with 40mph winds is plenty cold enough for me.

Sorry, Rebek. That is what I usually call them, but I was just following suit.

Should we refer to them as " long Janes" for a while to even out the sexist term? (I'm really hoping I didn't just make things worse. Honest I am.).

I have never considered the gender implications of cold-weather gear (and my long-ago dissertation used feminist archetypal theory).
