Responding to an earlier sub-thread, we leave our sunflowers for the birds. Right now, the goldfinches are going crazy on the echinacea seedheads.

~smile~ I think the contest is closed, but the thread is still open.

Good for you. I do leave them for the birds too...I just make sure they share a little with me. I have to admit, though, that they taste good FRESH.

Every year I plant some but they get eaten down...so, I'm glad I few volunteers survive. Maybe next year I'll have enough for the birds and some for us to harvest.

Nice about the goldfinches. I don't plant Echinacea...hopefully I'll find something else they love. Sycamore seeds are supposed to be one of their foods--I've got plenty of those (or I will again this fall).
