Northern Raccoon, Procyon lotor

Baby Raccons, photos taken summer of 2010 around dusk.

For a while this Raccoon and her 4 babies visited my birdbath nightly. Then another Raccoon with 7 babies took over the nightly visits to my birdbath. The second batch of racoons drove the first batch away, but sometimes I caught glimpses of them in the woods or the meadow.

Enjoy the photos!

Great neighbors you have!

I seldom see raccoons here on my property; perhaps the coyotes keep their numbers down? I do remember when I first moved here 25 years ago that, after putting up a bird feeder on the back deck, I found one draped all over it ch-owing down on sunflower seeds. It was a mom with teats extended - I let her have all she could eat!
