bear What Bear?

Too funny not to share.

Photos taken summer of 2010.

When Flora comes for a visit, he always waits for me by the same tree.
My dog, Max, usually alerts me when I'm indoors, but on this particular day, he was snoozing while on duty.

If I'm outside, Flora just strolls up. I never hear him approach. I usually get a foot lick and/or a sniff for a greeting.

I'm in awe.

Are you ever concerned for Flora's safety from hunter's? Is she wary enough of humans? Though here in Massachusetts, I find myself concerned about her, as I know what a treasure she is for you...

Well Flora's a full grown adult male bear now and he goes where he wants and participates in the usual bear activities. This means I have no way to protect him, so I alway worry during bear hunting season in our area.

Flora is very wary of other humans, and won't have anything to do with them. The photo I posted of Flora and I is one of the few pictures another person was able to take with me and one of my bear friends. The photographer had to hide in the garage and stick the camera lens out a window. Since I don't use my human voice with the bears, the sound of another human speaking scares them off if the approch of another human's scent hasn't scared them off already.

All of the bears in my woods are treasures!

That was a wise thing to do. It may very well protect his life someday.

Ha ha ha ha ha!!! Epic fail in the dog department!!! I'm surprised your photo didn't show Rottie stub wagging back and forth or.... a dog standing at the window with a toy in its mouth.... as in....come play with me.... those are such happy happy wiggly dogs!!!
