Kind of creepy knowing one's traveling around in the same area with me!

We have a cougar living in south-central Wisconsin, near Reedsburg. It keeps attacking horses that have been put out to pasture. I guess that is normal and expected cougar behavior, but it is causing a good deal of grief to the affected people.

No sign of cougars here in Madison, where I live. But we have had several news stories about horses with gaping wounds, & at least one of the horses had to be put down. People living in the area have seen the cougar, and found tracks.

Back in Vermont we called them catamounts, thus the name of UVM's team (my alma mater.) They are pretty common in the mountainous woods there. So cool to find tracks havalotta!
