I can only see it the "wrong way"...and can only see the one on WG (obviously).

No it is, what it is...It hasn't been altered. It "IS" like an optical illusion.
Some people can visualize a track both ways. Indented OR reversed....Popping out at you. Some can not.
I just happen to be one of them.

Ok I found the term I was in search of

It's called parallax.
Usually appearing indented, a track might also appear to be popping out of the trodden area.
This doesn't always work, but if you concentrate on a track for a spell you just might see it flip to its reverse.

Apparently I can too...however, I can't see it as normal. Normally I can switch back and forth between two views.

I couldn't get it to flip back into appearing like an indent either. I believe it's because it's too close. Step back and take a look. Bet you see it now!

That seemed like such a great idea...I really thought it would work. I backed up all the way to the bay window and still couldn't get it to work. Then I tried sneaking up on it from the kitchen...when that failed I came in from the right and still couldn't get it to look normal.

It was worth a try.

Guess so, and it led to a bit of exercise in doing it too!
Your post had me chuckling out loud...... I'm sitting here envisioning you doing all of that in your toga.
Must have been the sneaking into the kitchen part that set that spark into motion.

A toga is not part of my regular wardrobe. You do know that, don't you?

I was "sneaking in" from the kitchen. (But I can see how that might've sparked something--cool that you can envision it since you were here.) ...Really it was from the foyer, but from the kitchen side of the computer monitor.

Oooops yes, Guess I wrote that line wrong....From your kitchen-foyer.
I loved the fact that you had felt comfortable enough to show us both, the playful side of you "in person".
Your humor, (Missing the natural flow of facial gestures and body language ) shines through your written words of wit via the computer.
It brings joy to the site.
