Default Audubon Asking - Contact Your Senators to Support Rolback of Recent Changes Which Weakened

I received an email Action Alert from Audubon. They're requesting that people contact their Senators now to try to rollback recent changes which weakened the Endangered Species Act. You can use the link below for a simple way to do so.

http://audubonaction.org/campaign/esaomnibus

Here's a section from that page.

Quote:
In its final few months, the Bush Administration pushed through rules that drastically weakened and damaged the Endangered Species Act. Now, Congress has the opportunity to undo this ill-conceived rule-change and restore the Endangered Species Act so that it continues to protect our most imperiled animals and plants. The U.S. House of Representatives included a provision in the omnibus appropriations bill that would enable the Secretary of the Interior to reverse these changes. Now, it's in the Senate's hands the vote may happen as early as Tuesday, March 3
Thanks -- Lori

I'm curious to see what's going on with this bill. I'm not much for politics, so can anyone tell me the best websites and such for tracking a bill's status?

Today, the president announced the changes made by the last administration are undone. The text of the memorandum to federal agencies and departments is here:

swamp thing,

Thanks for the link for checking the status of the bill and the later good news. Like midwesternerr, I sometimes also wonder what ends up happening with various issues.

I must admit I wasn't totally clear either on what exactly the link about the memo was trying to convey, although it did sound positive. I did a seach and came up with this link. I know nothing about this site, but it looks interesting, and I found their explanation a bit clearer. I'm assuming it's accurate, but don't really know.

I think the bill passed. Now the rules still have to be rolled back. If they don't bother doing so after the language was put in the bill and passed, I'll be peeved!
