When I found this out I donated my cool fluorescent minerals back to another rock collector who couldn't care less about the risks.
Now you tell me.

A couple of years ago we bought a Ukrainian dosimeter, tried it on objects around the house... and discovered that our minerals collection (you know, the one my kids used to sort through and play with) had some radioactive specimens. Of course, duh! None of them seemed highly radioactive, at least, although they were the highest things in the house. I'm not sure if we have any that actually fluoresce.

Pretty rocks can be radioactive... who knew?

Better check it out.....Take a black light and scan over them in the dark. Make sure you turn them over to check the undersides too.
A lot of the fluorescents look like plain Janes..... If I hadn't labeled mine as fluorescents you'd wonder why they were even in my collection.
I know I don't want anything helping me along to the grave. Dummmmm tee dum dum DUMMMMM
