Port admits to poisoning kids, birds | National Breaking News | News.com.au
excerpt from above:
THE Esperance Port Authority has pleaded guilty to causing lead pollution in two incidents that led to children being poisoned and thousands of birds "falling out of the sky''.

Up to 9,00 birds were estimated to have died in the southern West Australian port city from December 2006 to March 2007, in what was a mystery to environmental and health authorities at the time.
In Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court today, the port pleaded guilty to six charges, including two charges of causing pollution.

It also admitted it had failed to notify the DEC director-general of a waste discharge as required under the Environmental Protection Act, emitted an unreasonable emission of nickel odour and unlawfully discharged waste.
The tendency of man's nature to good is like the tendency of water to flow downwards.
