excerpt from above:
Quote:
The Lakeland Sail and Power Squadron received a Clean Water Grant from the BoatUS Foundation to place signs about spreading invasive species at 45 boat ramps around Polk County with the help of Polk County Parks and Recreation and the city of Lakeland's Public Works Dept.

The "Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers'' signs have been placed at 42 county ramps and three city of Lakeland ramps.

Aquatic weeds like hydrilla, exotic plants and non-native fishes can be transported via boat trailers and live-wells.

Anyone interested in having a sign on a local or private lake can call Mike Hall of the Squadron at 863-899-8731.
