Reptiles are scaley and unhuggable so I'm told. I wish they would start with them since we're up against that chytrid fungus.

That one got a "snort" laugh from me.

Default Mailbag: Invasive species: So?

Mailbag: Invasive species: So?

Mailbag: Invasive species: So? (May 29) - News*,*Opinion*|*Albany Democrat-Herald
excerpt from above:
Quote:
If I said a law was being sponsored that would make all fish illegal to possess, except common goldfish, people would say that is silly. If I said it would include all reptiles and birds and animals (not dogs, cats, farm animals) too, most would say no way.

The bill is HR669 sponsored by Democrat Peter DeFazio. It is called the “non-invasive species” bill. It outlaws virtually everything. It is not clear how certain species could be allowed. I did eventually receive a reply from his office weeks late. It was a form letter and did not address any of the points I’d made.

I seldom write about things that affect me. Yes, I do sell tropical fish. I have supplied researchers, teachers and just plain nice folk since 1957. I supplied the Institute of Molecular Biology with the A and B strains of zebrafish. Those cloned fish are small, mature in 3 months, and the eggs can be studied out of the womb. An enormous amount of human diseases are researched with the zebra.
