Time to start a new "what's blooming" thread for the new year.

Today I saw spring beauties (Claytonia) blooming and the spicebush too. Photos to come! What are you seeing in your area?

You are so far ahead of me, ww.

Lookin' good.

Yes, as much as I love serviceberry, their flowers always seem too short-lived. Oh well, such is life...gotta enjoy it when you can...and appreciate the cycles that give us a chance to enjoy them anew each year.

Nice.

Again, ahead of me, of course. However, with the mild winter and above average temperatures, I expect to have an early spring.

Nice photos, everyone! All I have so far is pussy willow. It's been quite warm though. Tulips and daffs and violets shouldn't be long now.

I like the blue violet linrose. My violets are only starting to show tiny leaves. It will be awhile before they flower.

I read somewhere where Nature teaches Patience- Luckily we didn't have a Polar Vortex this year. I'm struggling to finish my arbor and make beds for the sassafras trees I ordered. I was able to get a few days of weeding in between rain drops and while removing the spent Umbels from the sedum I noticed the mourning dove nest in the evergreen.

It's funny where you find nests sometimes. When doing a walkabout yesterday I saw a nest in the clematis that shares a trellis with the trumpet honeysuckle. It was so precarious I can't believe it survived.

I'm trying really hard to learn patience. We had a nice break in the winter weather - sunshine and temps near 60 degrees. I took advantage of the gift and got out and started spring clean up chores. Today it was chilly and super windy! I stood at the window and stomped my feet and said "But I wanna play outside!". Patience......spring will return soon, I'm sure.
