Nice Heron shot...I sneaked in on a blue heron perched on a dock post last night...
Lighting was low so the camera didn't capture it very clearly..I suppose the shutter was open too long.

Nice relaxing way to end the eve....flipping through your album. I specially like the green herons and sunning turtles.

ya gotta go practice! test!
Low light = any of the following
slower shutter speed
larger aperture
higher ISO

try taking pix using your "intelligent" auto or program settings
see which pix you like when you upload them to the computer
check the properties of the pix that turned out best
use that as a guideline

get photography magazines

Well that's where I fall short...I don't know how to master the manuals...Probably never will unless I get someone to teach me hands on with LOTS of patience.I could pull up a flash but that only gets you a fake looking photo with lots of light and shadows.
How do you check the properties.. All I've been doing is taking thousands of cruddy eve shots switching things here and there every which way. Once and a while a good one comes through but I never know what I did different that made it so.

For instance, if this were your pic on your computer, you should be able to right-click on it and get the "properties" or "metadata" similar to that below.

I'm thinking I saw a mode on the camera somewhere to see that kind of info?
I'll try clicking on one of mine in another thread to see if I can see it.
