Mary and I were out at the Forsythe Refuge last night to participate in horseshoe crab tagging. The weather was not cooperating and the rest of the group decided to go indoors. Mary and I decided to stay out (along with a couple of our intrepid friends). The picture is the reason why

There is no way that there is any fireworks display that can match or even come close to a good lightning storm. Mother Nature sure puts on a good show!!!

Interesting cloud photos Havalotta.

I wonder what atmospheric conditions existed to create such unusual cloud formations?

They (can't remember who "they" are) did an experiment several years ago to see if contrails dissipated in the atmosphere and how long it took for them to dissipate. They flew a plane in big circles making round contrails and then followed them by satellite. Apparently, they nearly circled the globe before dissipating and did have an effect on weather.

I did the same thing havalotta!

You were drawn to it too...Kinda weird ha?
WOW, It took them that long to dissipate....You'd thing the wind up there would have blown them apart long before that!
