Default Carney Fen, Michigan

A few photos. Don't have many. Me and havalotta were too busy looking at what we were finding and dodging twigs and branches.

E-
Thanks for sharing the photos from the hike you and havalotta took.

Looks like untouched nature at it's finest to me.

Here's my favorite photo:
Ferns

The geometric swirly pattern created by the ferns is just awesome. Very nice photo too BTW.

It WAS extremely difficult to maneuver through at times like she said but well worth it.
We fought the underbrush, fell into hidden holes, got sucked into the mucky deer trails, fought off the huge horseflies, hunger and thirst.
We sure enjoyed ourselves! REALLY we did! I think we impressed each other.

I'm glad I had checked my compass reading before we entering that area.
We did use it too. It made for the most direct route out as we were running out of time.
That's when we found that nice boggy area Equill liked and has posted.

The first photo are unripened blueberries.
The second one, are low growing raspberries due to their dim environment.

A couple things we ran into had me wondering.....................
Carney Fen, Michigan-dscf1014.jpg
This little guy looks like a miniature shooting star the way its petals are flared back.
The flower is very petite at a quarter of an inch.
Carney Fen, Michigan-dscf0985.jpg
Wondering if this is caused by a fungus or an insect. We saw no activity inside them.

This is a close up of that super high quality plant Equill put in.
Anyone know what it is?...........

Your first photo is Vaccinium. I don't know which one. I remember that second thingie. I would like to know what it is too. I'm not telling what the last one is. You need to figure it out. EXCELLENT photo of the plant. Hint... it occurs in that type of a plant community.

That first one is a form of blueberry? Blue berry flowers hang down though.
You told me what the other one was so I'll let the others guess it...........
