1st photo is extremely over-exposed. Too much contrast I guess. Bummer.... it was much better in person than what you can see from my photo. Nice scenic views complete with a few hidden treasures along the way like the spider's web. What was nice about Tishomingo is that even with all the fallen leaves.... at no time did the trail go ***poof*** and just evaporate into thin air like it did in some parts of Shawnee.

These photos are extremely representative of what we encountered while hiking these loops.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tishomingo_State_Park, “Tishomingo State Park is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Tishomingo County, Mississippi, northeast of Tupelo. The major feature of the park is Bear Creek Canyon and its generous outcrops of Hartselle Sandstone. The beautiful boulders and towering cliffs of this rock, the more understated outcrops of Bangor Limestone and the creek which carves through it all compose the most rugged and picturesque scenery to be found in the Magnolia State.[2]” Lots more info at that site.

And.... as we were leaving.... we pulled over to chase a "leetle" leezard. This quiet area was at the exit. What couldn't be seen from the roadway was.... what was beyond the stone birdbath and hanging birdfeeder....

Doesn't that look just like a horse jumping over something.

I'll have to disagree on that one with you.... Don't you recall the older couple AND yet further in, a younger guy asking if they were still on the trail? I too at times wondered the very same thing.

CAUTION Bear creek loop was a longer than you'd think and was NOT marked very well.
If you weren't paying attention, one could very EASILY get lost in its leaf coated cover.
The red tags in the trees were few and far between blending in with the fall colors all too well...

Yes, those are mushrooms....A little red speck in the forest drew my attention to them.
