Excerpt from above:

This is an ideal time to get back to gardening chores such as replenishing mulch around perennials, shrubs and trees. Yesterday a group of Master Gardeners and Cary Sims, County Extension agent, gathered pine straw at the country home of one of our members. We collected a trailer load of fresh, cinnamon colored pine straw and then mulched the native plant bed at the Angelina County Extension office. When we…

Mulching with pine straw is a lot better than mulching with hay or straw. Hay and straw have weed seeds in them.... mulching with either of those will create a LOT of work for you.... I know... I mulched with straw this year. Never again will I do that. I took a photo of a bale of straw on the side of the building where I bought it that was sprouting.... big duh to me. I musta been having 1 of my many out of body experiences when I drove off with the bales of straw not even making the connection that whatever was growing out of their straw bale.... was gonna start growing out of the straw bales they sold me.

Ewwwwe Not good. I had added bags of amendments from wherever and have the same problem going on here. Seedlings sprouting everywhere.
A time consuming weekly scrape so far is keeping them at bay.

I feel for me too. I'll show you when you get here. I was ready to slap myself for that dumb move. No need slapping myself though.... I paid with all the weeding I had to do.
