I was looking at those white thingies wondering if they weren't for birdhouses or something. Maybe they could multitask for you.... pole vaulting net supports during pole vaulting season and nesting boxes all the other months?
--
Maybe not yet since your chicks are really young but.... soon as they find out how much they like dust baths.... they'll be tearing up your ground rolling around in the dust like cats roll around on carpet that's been peppered with catnip. If I can.... I'll try to check the big box stores for round kiddie sleds. I doubt you've got any of those around you. If you can put some ashes and sand and really dry dirt in the kiddie sled.... maybe they won't do such a number on your lawn? The kiddie sleds would be just the right size for your run. Here's hoping the seasonal sledding stuff is out by October!!! They seem to allocate all their shelves to Halloween decorations and costumes then move right onto Christmas decorations before they even think about cold weather outerwear and things like snow blowers earlier and earlier these days.
--
The wheels helped me.... our chicken tractor is still too heavy even with handles on it. Maybe it'll be easier for you if he's literally pulling it with a tractor. I'd like to see photos of how he attaches your wheels if you think about it.

Default Hot Rod Chickens

My chickens have their new set of wheels. Those crazy birds will be cruising the neighborhood now.

They're trying to talk us into getting spinners.

Unfortunately, one of the wheels blocks the door from opening all the way - makes putting in feed and water a little trickier.

Thank you - it was all Hubby's doing. He gets all the credit, or blame. No eggs yet - Dad said they should start laying in September. But we have hay in the nest boxes, just in case.

I'll have to check that out. I'm not sure what he is, but he's Mr. Man, that's for sure. One tiny little guy out there with all the ladies.

Oh he is so adorable! I notice your hens waddles are getting red, and this is a good sign of laying soon. Bright red waddles and combs. Since you probably do not let them out you will not see the egg squatt, it's hilarious and a very good sign your girls are ready.
