I think that skulls are art, all by themselves. The architecture of them is amazing. They are light and fragile...yet incredibly strong. Wouldn't have a human skull around though...that would creep me out a bit. I like deer antlers, too. I have a lot of them. I think that most people see collecting skulls as macabre and gruesome.

I don't necessarily collect skulls...but they find their way to me, LOL! I have a hummingbird's nest made of horse-hair, and a hornet's nest. Some empty bird's eggs. Sea-shells, driftwood, etc. I guess I just like the detritus of nature.

A friend of mine had a beloved pet goat. He had massive horns. When he passed away of old age, she sent his head to a company in TX(I think) that processes mounts for museums, using dermestid beetles. After she got his very clean and white skull back, she covered it in turqoise, silver, hematite and some red coral. Lots of glass beads. She hung it above her fireplace. It's subtle, and absolutely beautiful. If I can find the picture, I will send it along. Now, I couldn't do that with the remains of a pet, but people deal with things in different ways.

Here are some of the bugs that didn't make it down the drain when I let out the water and here's a photo of where I found your skull.
