The 4th photo in post 18 IS a spider body.
There were just TONS of them down in a really damp basement of a house we bought to spruce up and sell.
My best GUESS is....the owners must have moved out, the heat went off and they all froze.
When the spring thaw came I think the mildews and fungus then set in on them ..

I thought you'd get a a kick out of the spritz photo seeing you had done it yourself to liven things up....
I really didn't spritz the web like I implied... It was covered naturally in dew.

Shhhhh.... don't tell anyone. Mr Woodpecker sounds better than Mr Sapsucker and sapsuckers are members of the woodpecker family!!! Isn't that some righteous damage to that tree? The WHOLE tree was loaded with holes. I tried to get in close to see if anything was missed and took about 100 close up photos hoping I catch something but noooooooooo.... empty holes. Not even a scrap left behind. I took about 100 photos of a hornets nest trying to get some hornets and same deal. All I ended up with was one photo where if you look real close there's a wasp in one of the entrance holes.
